I love to paint from life, the values and colors

are right in front of you but I like to push or change them a bit

to make my vision work.

"Geraniums in the Window Box"

"Geraniums in the Window Box"
oil, 12x16"

This painting is painted on a cradled panel, can be hung
with or without a frame.
I love painting red geraniums and this one had many. I also enjoy painting
what I is see in my mind without the whole composition
in front of me.
I saw geraniums in a window box, with an old window. I added the
valance later on, the top seemed to be empty without it.
 A challenge for sure.
I was really happy with this piece!

"Varnish Brush"

"Varnish Brush"
oil, 10x8"

I enjoy painting tin cans, their like a mirror reflecting images
that surround them.
I usually use a sponge to varnish my paintings, the ones at Home Depot
I found to be the best, they leave a nice smooth finish. I get a bit lazy
when it comes to cleanup, I varnish quite a few paintings at the same time, then
toss it. I also use water bottle caps taped on my palette for my
medium, Liquin original, if there is some left over I put it in a sealed
container until the next sitting. I try to think of anything that makes life
a tad easier.

"Honeybee and Lavenders"

"Honeybee and Lavenders"
oil, 7x5" Sold

These lavenders were in a pot on my deck, there were many bees at
the time pollinating, working like crazy. I got to close to take
pictures, they didn't like that. The lavenders are really close to my
window. it was easier to take the picture from inside. Plus they move
so fast, I had to take many photos to get a few good ones.

I usually like to paint life size or smaller but the honeybee is so tiny
and so is the lavender, I had to make them both
larger so they could be seen in the painting.
