"One Red Geranium"

"One Red Geranium"
oil, 8x10"

Painted from life. I liked the simplicity of this piece
after setting it up.
My geraniums are still alive but not looking that
great. I was able to paint this geranium

"Aloha Purple Sky in a Basket"

"Aloha Purple Sky in a Basket"
oil, 8x8"

I love the name of these flowers, the scientific name is Calibrachoa.
I bought these beautiful flowers at the nursery, set them in my basket
and painted them from life. Just loved how the flowers
fell into place without any fuss.

"Geraniums Standing"

"Geraniums Standing"
oil, 8x10"

My geraniums are still standing, come the first frost
and I will have to say goodbye to them until next year.
I taught a workshop using these geraniums, my students
were so eager to learn and we had so much fun doing so.
Every painting is always a new learning process. I tell
my students that I can teach you technique but I can
never teach you creativity, that belongs to you.

"Ripen Pears"

"Ripen Pears"
oil, 8x10"
Sold

I received a wonderful gift basket with a lot of good stuff in it. I didn't realize for quite awhile that there were pears hiding underneath, when I finally found them they were really ripe. Each had wonderful markings and colors, I had to paint them. They are Royal Riviera Pears from Harry & David out of Oregon. They have a wonderful and interesting story.

"Three Red Geraniums"

"Three Red Geraniums"
oil, 8x10"

I set this arrangement up and painted from life. These are cutting I
took from my potted geraniums that were in my yard. Soon they
will be gone at the first frost, here in WA state they don't make
it through the cold weather. Sad to see them go.

"The Blue Hydragea"

"The Blue Hydrangea"
oil, 8x8

When visiting my brother and his wife in May, there in their beautiful
backyard I spotted this beautiful blue hydrangea. The sun
was casting this deep green shadow and the blue of this
flower was so vibrant.

I took a photo of it and painted it in my studio when we got home. I also have blue
hydrangeas in my yard and after looking at my hydrangeas and
then my painting, I realized the flower wasn't blue enough and
made it bluer. They are very blue.

"Geraniums in the Cottage"

"Geraniums in the Cottage"
oil, 8x8
Sold

Red geraniums have been one of my all time favorites to paint. This piece was in my
thoughts and had to paint it. Sometimes remembering what I have seen before.

What started the old window scene, we were staying at a cottage in Carmel,
the window in the kitchen was looking out at the beautiful landscape
with a window box full of red geraniums in front of the window. I have been
  painting them ever since.

"Geraniums in White"

"Geraniums in White"
oil, 8x10
Sold

I am always asked about my geranium paintings, so I thought I
would do some more of them.
When doing a painting I am always changing the composition
until it feels right. Maybe a flower shouldn't be there or
moved. Every painting is always a challenge from the
beginning to the end but that's what makes it so much fun.

"Hydrangeas and Lobelias"

Hydrangeas and Lobelias
oil, 8x10"

Most hydrangeas are white but also come in blue, pink, red and purple
depending on  the acidity in the soil. If the soil is neutral they become
more pale in color, pink and purple. If the soil is acidic they turn blue.
They originated from Asia, North and South America.
There are 100 species of the hydrangea shrub.
Flowers truly gain my interest, there are so many of them and are
so beautiful. I guess that's why I paint them.

"Geranium Cuttings"

"Geranium Cuttings"
Oil, 8x10"

I set these red geranium cuttings in olive jars in my studio,

time in painting them.
Love the reds against the green compliments.

"Tools to Create"

"Tools to Create"
8"x10", oil
Sold

I love painting brushes that I use to paint with. So many
thoughts, energy and confusion come through each stroke
of the brush. The desire is there, the choice, the happy times the
frustration times are all there while glaring at my
progression as the the brush hits the canvas.
Is it Ok? Or am I really asking, am I OK?

Crisp White Peonies

"Crisp White Peonies"
oil, 8x10

Painting flowers brings a joy in my life. They are so
beautiful and so many to choose from. Before picking any out,
I examine them carefully to see which one strikes me the most.
It's hard because there are so many choices.
God brings so much beauty in our lives and it's all
around us.

The Lemon

"The Lemon"
oil, 8x10

Set this still life up and painted it from life.  My son made this beautiful
bowl in his pottery class. He did so well with pottery but
never pursued it, he was more into sports. I was drawn to the
lemon casting a striking reflection on the table and on the bowl.

"Cow in the Meadow"

"Cow in the Meadow"
oil, 8x8
Sold

On a trip to California we stopped off at Duncan Mills. There
were cows grazing in the meadow, got a few photos shots of
them. They don't seem to be shy at having their pictures
taken. This one here seemed to love it.

Teacup and Comfort

"Teacup and Comfort"
oil, 8x10

I set this still life up and painted it from life. My sister-in-law gave me
this beautiful teacup along with many more that I plan on painting.
I used the plant to add direction with the leaves to encircle the teacup
leading to the book. The teacups shadow also keeps it in the circle. The plant
and book seem to be comforting the teacup just like those
that love you.

"Vintage Iron"

Vintage Iron
oil, 8x10"

My brother gave me this Sunbeam iron that was from the 50's.
He is a collector of antiques and vintage stuff, which I am
also fond of. I am sure it still works, haven't tried it yet,
just caught my attention to paint it. I love the shiny metal, black
handle and old cord.
Yesterday is gone but memories still exist.
