"Bouquet of Violas"

                                                          "Bouquet of Violas"  oil, 14x11"

I painted these violas this last summer and was able to paint

at least five different compositions from a twelve pack of violas.

I had to put them outside to soak in the sun then would bring

them back in to paint another painting. Eventually they stayed

outside.

Got a lot out of these beautiful flowers.

I always enjoy painting light and shadows, that's what drew

me into painting. God's creation is so amazing and so

beautiful!

I love to paint from life, the values and colors

are right in front of you but I like to push or change them a bit

to make my vision work.

"Geraniums in the Window Box"

"Geraniums in the Window Box"
oil, 12x16"

This painting is painted on a cradled panel, can be hung
with or without a frame.
I love painting red geraniums and this one had many. I also enjoy painting
what I is see in my mind without the whole composition
in front of me.
I saw geraniums in a window box, with an old window. I added the
valance later on, the top seemed to be empty without it.
 A challenge for sure.
I was really happy with this piece!

"Varnish Brush"

"Varnish Brush"
oil, 10x8"

I enjoy painting tin cans, their like a mirror reflecting images
that surround them.
I usually use a sponge to varnish my paintings, the ones at Home Depot
I found to be the best, they leave a nice smooth finish. I get a bit lazy
when it comes to cleanup, I varnish quite a few paintings at the same time, then
toss it. I also use water bottle caps taped on my palette for my
medium, Liquin original, if there is some left over I put it in a sealed
container until the next sitting. I try to think of anything that makes life
a tad easier.

"Honeybee and Lavenders"

"Honeybee and Lavenders"
oil, 7x5" Sold

These lavenders were in a pot on my deck, there were many bees at
the time pollinating, working like crazy. I got to close to take
pictures, they didn't like that. The lavenders are really close to my
window. it was easier to take the picture from inside. Plus they move
so fast, I had to take many photos to get a few good ones.

I usually like to paint life size or smaller but the honeybee is so tiny
and so is the lavender, I had to make them both
larger so they could be seen in the painting.

"Honeybee"

"Honeybee"
oil, 6x6"

The bees are out now pollinating like crazy. After painting this
bee it intrigued me so much I had to research them. I was so
surprised at their routine, between pollinating, the honeycomb and
taking care of the Queen, I see why they call them worker bees.
The honeycomb was so amazing, each hexagon shape that was made and
has a purpose for each space.
Everything is in such perfect order with
Gods creation!

"Rose Petal Tea"

"Rose Petal Tea"
oil, 8x8"

I put this rose in a teacup and realized I should paint
this setup. I added the teabag and that's how I came up
with the name.
You can use the petals to make tea, also with the rose hips.
The rose hips are the oval orange, red or purple fruits on pollinated
roses.

"Geraniums and the Old Vintage Window"

"Geraniums and the Old Vintage Window"
oil, 11x14"

This old window caught my attention. I am attracted to
vintage, old worn out patina and this window had it all!
I also liked the outside window looking in and another
window inside the interior looking out.
The house dates back to the early 1900's.

Love the light casting wonderful shadows on the porch.
I love to search out the light not just on this earth
but most of all through Christ.

"Cosmos in the Nursery"

"Cosmos in the Nursery"
oil, 11x14"

I love going to the nursery and looking at all the beautiful
flowers. I stroll the nursery until I find an area that would
make a good painting and take a photo of it.
This painting is one of them.

"Lobelia Color Mix”

"Lobelia Color Mix”
oil, 10x8"

During the summer I planted these lobelias and took some pictures
knowing that in winter months they would be gone. I prefer painting
from life but annuals don't stay year round. Lobelias are one of
my favorite flowers.
