A Care for Flowers 8x10 oil

Years ago I took an interest in planting flowers plants etc., I studied garden books constantly, learning what I could. I wasn't painting at that time, but now I seem to paint so many flowers. They shine in the garden. Today I plant most of them in pots, that way I can bring them in to paint.

A Cold Winter Day 8x10 oil

I loved how the icicles were drooping from the branches. The simplicity of just the one figure made it seem so calm and peaceful.

The Pink Umbrella 8x10 oil

I immediately went to the pink umbrella when I saw this scene. To capture the feeling of rain I used the tip of my pallet knife. The city is located in Helsinki,

The Red Hammer 6x6 oil

Not sure how old this hammer is but it looks pretty old. I was drawn to the rusty red and deep shadow that was casting on it. I rearranged this still life quite a few times until I came up with this arrangement.

Painted Flowers 8x10 oil Sold

A lot of my paintings are of flowers so I thought I would set up a still life of a scene of  flowers being painted with the canvas, paints and a brush. I had done a still life somewhat like this a while back and had fun with it.

"Lavender Bouquet" oil 8x10

Lavenders are a treat to paint because you get to enjoy the wonderful aroma they put off. I have some that have dried in my studio, still smell so good.
