Sunlit Geranium 8x10 oil Sold

The sun was quite bright that day casting wonderful shadows. I bought two geraniums at the nursery and this one seemed to win me over, it had a better composition with just the one flower and the buds on the left to break the shadows flow.

Boutique in Mendocino 6x6 oil

Mendocino is a quaint little town by the sea in California. Art galleries and shops fill the main street. This cute little boutique caught my eye with the flowers in front and the window display.

Shadow 6x6 oil Sold

I painted this piece using mainly the flowers in shadow, there were bits of light hitting some flowers that were in shadow. I really liked how the shadows were casting on the deck from the flowers above and on the side which cannot be seen.

Painted Pansy 7x5 oil

I set this still life up with just the brushes in the jar, it seemed boring so I added the pansy and it became the star of the painting. Sometimes setting up a still life comes easy and sometimes not. Just like life. God is my teacher, counselor and loves me no matter what, and it's all free.

Create 6x6 oil

When I set this still life up and directed the light on the subjects the bottle just lit up and a wonderful cast shadow from the cup caused the light to look even stronger. The liquid in the bottle put a nice reflection on the book. Just looking at painting tools, paint and a blank canvas brings me to want to create.

Black-Capped Chickadee 6x6 oil Sold

I stood with my camera, waiting and waiting for a bird to land close by so I could get a photo of it. Finally this black cap perched on this twig for about two seconds and then was gone. They are so fast and don't sit still for very long. I was surprised that I was able to get a good enough shot. I have a flower stand on my deck and a black cap built a nest in it. There are now three eggs, I walk by it and she doesn't seem to mind. I am going to worry about it till the babies hatch and are on their own.

These violas must have loved its location in my backyard because the flowers were abundant. There was a plant on the right side of it casting a wonderful shadow.

Sunny Day on the Farm 5x7 oil

What inspired me to paint this piece was the light and shadow hitting the house. When I know I am finished is when I feel that I am in the painting. I can feel the warmth of the sun or the birds singing or the scent of the flowers.

Tranquil 6x6 oil

What could be more tranquil than to kick back in a boat, enjoy the beautiful scenery, listen to the birds sing and do nothing.
